I hired Andrea to take a look at my website when I found out that I was getting a lot of hits initially, but no action after that.
She evaluated my site, praised the good points, and gently pointed out several improvements (for example, I didn’t have any meta tags or alt text on my images).Andrea suspected that my website hits were a result of my LinkedIn post announcing my site, rather than through organic search results, as it was not appearing on the first search result page using various keywords. She suggested targeted search terms that someone might be using to find my site, which I could incorporate into my pages to make search results more successful.
She suggested ways of enticing people to continue reading my site, noting that on my site the interesting material was hidden below the first screen. She explained that it is important to have what people are looking for on the first screen, as searchers generally only look at a site for a few seconds to decide if they are going to continue reading it or go back and look at the next search results.
Andrea has a good sense of what keeps the visitor intrigued with the site and how to maximize their “read time”.
I am in the process of redesigning my website with Andrea’s feedback, and I have great confidence that the improvements she has suggested will improve my website’s engagement with readers.
