Who Is The Farm And Pet Copywriter?

I’m Andrea, “the” Farm and Pet Copywriter.

My husband and I live on a small farm in Whitinsville, a village in Northbridge in south central Massachusetts, near the Rhode Island border. Here we enjoy our lives with animals big and small.

I’ve had animals in my life since I was 4 years old, with my very first cat, a traditional Siamese, named Tigger. Being an only child made Tigger my “brother”, and I treated him as such. This began my intimate relationship with animals.

I’ve had cats ever since, these three being our current “clowder” (Cooper is the gray/white hugging Bonnie the calico, while Blake the tuxedo tries to ignore the love fest). Unfortunately we recently lost Blake, but he is in our hearts and feel his spirit is still with us:

These are our horses, Dusty the quarter horse palomino, and Cisco the paint Tennessee Walker mix:

We also have a couple of Nigerian Dwarf goats, Hanky the black and white wether, and Fawn who looks just like a little deer:

And of course no farm is complete without chickens and ducks (not shown, they don’t like the camera!):

I’m a Pet Parent and Can Talk to Other Pet Parents

As a pet parent, I can speak to your customers, as I’ve been in their shoes:

  • I’ve agonized over a sick pet:
    – Force-feeding her knowing that she had to eat to live.
    – Having her run when she saw me because of the “torture”.
    – Wondering if she’d live through the night.
    – Praying I could find something that she would actually eat without forcing.
    – What I wouldn’t have given for something she’d find irresistible!

  • I’ve cursed out a faulty product:
    – That was supposed to keep my water unfrozen in the winter.
    – Going in the barn one early sub-zero morning, only to find rock-hard frozen water and a broken bucket.
    – You can bet I told everyone I knew never to buy that product!
  • I’ve sung the praises of a fabulous product:
    – A water-toting system actually met and exceeded my expectations.
    – Being able to haul water to the barn and coops in 10 degree weather without spilling it and creating ice hazards.
    – I told all my fellow farmers about that one, and no doubt increased that company’s sales by word of mouth!

I can showcase your products by helping your customers visualize themselves using and loving them by painting engaging pictures with my copywriting. Pet parents are always looking to make their and their animals’ lives better, easier and happier.

My Previous Life

I was a Software Engineer/Quality Software Engineer for most of my career, but was never quite satisfied. Everyone knows engineers hate writing, but I was one of those weird ones who loved it. I always put writing specs, user documentation and class materials higher priority than writing code. My teammates cringed when I proofread their materials!

However I never felt fulfilled until I found my calling doing copywriting. Complementing that with my love of animals led me to this niche. Now I find myself looking forward to “work” for the first time in my life!
